"Anime director Osamu Dezaki passed away at 12:35 a.m. on April 17 due to lung cancer. He was 67. A wake will be held on April 20, and a service will be held on April 21 in Tokyo. He is survived by his older brother Satoshi Dezaki, another anime director.

Among the many works Dezaki directed were Ace wo Nerae!, Ashita no Joe, Bionic Six, Black Jack The Movie, Ganba no Boken, Golgo 13: The Professional, Mighty Orbots, The Rose of Versailles, Space Adventure Cobra, Takarajima (Treasure Island), episodes of Mighty Atom/Astro Boy, and several Lupin III television episodes and specials. He developed a unique style of direction that included dramatic freeze-frames in pivotal scenes."

Another MADHOUSE legend, gone inside of a year ( Satoshi Kon, R.I.P.)

You know? I really wanted to meet him, too. He made my Saturday mornings so much more enjoyable. I still have fond memories of waking up early to watch Dungeons and Dragons, Kidd Video and the Mighty Orbots. The latter two should have been put on DVD by now; but have not. Osamu Dezaki's passing makes me think. I should have started my art career a long time ago. But, I made a lot of excuses. Now, I'm getting all the excuses out of the way and doing something. I'll post some art on my DA account soon to show what I mean. Thank you LeSean, for posting this.

Though, I didn't know who he was, I knew his works. Bionic Six and Mighty Orbots are what I watched in the mornings. Yes, he was an inspiration and I didn't know his name. That is the sad part. But, those shows kept my imagination going and kept me drawing. I will keep him in my prayers.
