Transformers AND the Pink Panther? I've been watching his work for most of my life, and didn't even know it! Than again, you could say he's been animating almost as long as I've been alive!
Interesting. The interviewer annoyed me a little, but, hey, that's the usual attitude of anyone outside of the field finding out what hand drawn animation is. Happy to see things are still animated pen & paper. Back when the Simpsons started I never knew it was animated in Korea and no printed material on the matter ever crossed my eyes. I read the official magazine back then and even though they gave info on character models being changed, character sheets and challenges and production time for episodes, as well as staff doodles, they never uttered "asia" or "Korea" as far a I remembered.
way cool... i love seeing inside studios. whats your office look like? Do you have a camera to test your animations nearby? Do you guys do dailys the way they do in pixar? are there people that come around to give you suggestions? how many animator are there working on a particular show? how many tweeners? how tight do you make your drawings, b4 the clean up artist takes them? how long do you guys stay in the studio? do you guys pull all nighters? Cant wait for cannonbusters anime....talk to you soon. deviantART muro drawing
Pretty neat video. Too bad the full one is blocked to us outside of Asia. Found the transcript for the other portions at [link]
What's kind of interesting for me is that that is the only place i"ve seen references to "Empress Chung" or "ShimChung" in western media after an announcement of it being a North Korea/South Korea coproduction. Even find it interesting to see the maquettes in his office.
Never could dig up the full video though. Wish I had thought to ask for a copy of this when I was in Korea earlier this year :/
Thanks for sharing the link. Love the insights into this industry.
hahahaha.....Nelson Shin took me for the best Korean BBQ ever. It's kind of funny that he's taking credit for the Simpson's as though they asked him personally to help them make the show. Funny how many things he's taking credit for.
One question if Korea and japan have been working on 2D shows for America for so long. Then what part of animation precess is done in America besides story boarding and designing.
