hades sessions. 15 and 20 minute sketches. been a while since i posted the "raw" as i like to call it, lol. I still dont think this life drawing stuff is very popular on Deviant Art, but i really love this stuff when i'm doing it and gotta show the young cats who look up to me that sometimes, it really is all about hard work and knowing the basics of draftsmanship, before you get infactuated with style and the importance of it.

Believe me when i tell you any pro influenced by anime and manga worth their weight in skills will agree that the anime/cartoony shit is just icing. Know the rules, THEN break them!!!


As for me, still practicing....:)

Wow man, just stumbled on these beauts. Gotta say i love the life drawing as well, theres something about nailing a believable pose from life and capturing light correctly that you don't get from off the cuff drawings. Peace.

Quick question: what did you mean by "know the rules?" Do you mean, be a realist like Marko Djurdjevic or Steve Rude before you try to be a cartoonist, or that you should just do a lot of life drawing/studying and draw whatever you want from imagination? It's been confusing me for a long time, and I wanted to know what to do in order to become a professional artist.

Dude... I am glad you are one of the (few) advocates of life-drawing around this site.... i agree with everything you say.... if more comic artists did regular life-drawing the standard would be so much higher ... like your work... you do really fantastic work... life drawing wise and otherwise, and you are a testament to what it really takes to be a good artist.. respect.
